Bioactivity: Homopterocarpin and Pterocarpus extract offer gastroprotection against indomethacin- induced ulcer by antioxidative mechanism and the modulation of gastric homeostasis, homopterocarpin may be responsible for, or contribute to the antiulcerogenic property of P. erinaceus. Homopterocarpin can contribute to the hepatoprotective and antioxidant potentials of P. erinaceus extract in acetaminophen-provoked hepatotoxicity. It can inhibit (lower concentration) or kill (higher concntration) human^s liver cancer cells under the cultured condition, they have anticancer activity. (-)-Homopterocarpin has active insect antifeedant against both S. litura and R. speratus. (+)-Homopterocarpin also has antimitotic effect.
